2021年11月27日、第7回庵治なビーチクリーンを実施しました。日本側の主催は「庵治なビーチクリーン実行委員会」であり、香川大学インターナショナルオフィスと瀬戸内圏研究センターが共催しました。主催する会の代表が本イベントの背景を説明し、原副学長（国際戦略・グローバル環境整備担当）の挨拶が続きました。今回はチェンマイ大学（タイ）と国立嘉義大学（台湾）と連携し、3か所で同時に清掃活動を実施しました。これは同種のイベントの２回目であり、1回目はブータン・カンボジアの卒業生と2021年4月17日に実施したものです。
On 27 November 2021, Kagawa University International Office in conjunction with the Seto Inland Sea Regional Research Center conducted the 7th Aji-na Beach Clean event. The event kicked off with the representative of the organizing committee explaining the background leading to this event. This was followed by some welcoming remarks by the KU Vice President of International Affairs. This time, our partners, Chiang Mai University (CMU) of Thailand and National Chiayi University (NCYU) of Taiwan conducted simultaneous environmental cleanup events at their local locations, making this event a joint venture at three different sites. This is the second of such an event, the first being with KU alumni members at Bhutan and Cambodia on 17 April 2021.
目的は、環境ごみ収集と国際海岸クリーンアップの手続きに基づく調査を通して、①内陸、海洋、河川のプラスチックごみによる影響への意識を深め、②タイ・台湾・日本の国際関係および生活様式や文化の理解を涵養し、③実施場所の３大学・学生・地域コミュニティ間の関係性と協力を作り上げることです。
The purpose was, through environmental garbage collection and survey based on Ocean Conservancy (International Coastal Cleanup) procedures we aimed to ① deepen the awareness of the impact of inland, marine, and river plastic garbage on the environment ② foster international relations and understanding of lifestyles and culture between Thailand, Taiwan, and Japan ③ cultivate relationship and cooperation among the three universities, students, and members of the local community at the event locations.
清掃場所については、本学は瀬戸内圏研究センターマリンステーション側の鎌野海岸でした。チェンマイ大学はコロナウイルス感染症の影響で他の場所に移動できなかったため、キャンパスで実施しました。国立嘉義大学は鰲鼓湿地でした。４月の第１回同様、３大学は開始時にオンラインで挨拶を行い、互いに激励してから清掃を開始しました。
The cleanup location at Kagawa was Kamano Beach, the home ground of Seto Inland Sea Regional Research Center. CMU's cleanup location was their campus itself, as they were not able to move to other locations due to Covid-19. The cleanup location of NCYU was Aogu Wetlands. As in the inaugural event in April, the three universities got online at the start of the event to greet one another, and to motivate and cheer each other before logging off to conduct the cleanup.
本学学生の参加に関しては、国際共同研究支援事業の資金を得ることができたため、13名の学生（留学生10、日本人学生3）がバスを利用して参加し、実行委員会の皆様に加えて、地域の方々とも活動を通して交流することができました。上記の学生を含む香川のグループ全体では、31名が参加しました。チェンマイ大学のグループには学生45名（卒業生も含む）、教職員10名の計55名、国立嘉義大学のグループには学生13名、その他32名の計45名が参加しました。
On Kagawa side, we had 31 participants, which included ten international students and three Japanese students. Faculty members from the International Office, members of the local community and the public made up the rest of the participants. With funding from the Center for International Research and Cooperation, we were able to hire a bus to transport the students to the site. CMU had a total of 55 participants, of which 45 were students or ex-students. The remaining ten were staff and faculty members. NCYU had 45 participants, which included 13 students and 32 non-students.
日本側においては、オーシャン・コンサーバンシーによる国際海岸クリーンアップの手続きに基づくごみの集計を行い、その結果は
1位 カキ養殖用まめ管 200個
2位 硬質プラ破片 88個
3位 食品包装 60個
でした。
On Kagawa side, participants conducted a survey of the garbage using the procedures laid out by Ocean Conservancy, an NGO that has been involved in tackling marine garbage for many years. The top three most garbage were
1st place: plastic tubes used for oyster culture, 200 pieces
2nd place: hard plastic fragments, 88 pieces
3rd place: food containers, 60 pieces
チェンマイ大学や国立嘉義大学側も収集したごみに関して重さの計測を含む調査を実施したようです。
We believe our colleagues at CMU and NYCU also did some survey of the garbage collected, including even weighing them.
約60分の活動後には、庵治マリンステーションの施設を活用して、Zoomにより３大学の参加者を接続し、ビーチ清掃の成果や感想等を共有しました。それぞれの実施場所の紹介の後、３大学の学生が順に清掃活動を報告し、観察内容や感想を述べました。最後は、国立嘉義大学の学術担当副学長による挨拶で締めくくられました。
After the cleanup which lasted about an hour, the three universities got online again to share their experiences and results of the cleanup. Participants from KU used the internet facilities at the Seto Inland Sea Regional Research Center for the online exchange. After introducing the three locations respectively, students from the three universities took turns to report on their cleanup activities, followed by their observations and impressions of the event. The event came to an end with closing remarks from the NCYU Vice President Academic Affairs.
本学は、SDGs目標14「海の豊かさを守ろう」の分野において、将来チェンマイ大学、国立嘉義大学との協力関係を拡大・強化することを心待ちにしています。
KU looks forward to expanding and enhancing the cooperation with CMU and NCYU in the domain of SDG#14 (Life under water) in the future.
