The Word, "crisis" is defined as "Sudden events that bring about or could bring about an unstable and dangerous situation in individuals, organizations, communities, or society as a whole, in terms of safety, economy, politics, society, environment, etc.". In recent years, it may be frequent mattes for you to hear the word "crisis" since there have been many reports of North Korea's nuclear development and ballistic missile launches.
To take measures in advance or after the crisis is what you call "crisis management", but it does not mean that once measures are taken, they are finished. Politics, economics, markets, social conditions, the environment, and even natural phenomena are not fixed, and they change over time. Therefore, it is necessary to consider and respond to the best measures suited to the times. In order to realize the best measures, the personnel capable of implementing appropriate and optimal crisis management and the pioneering and bold research and development are needed. Institute of Education, Research and Regional Cooperation for Crisis Management Shikoku at Kagawa University has two centers, Center of Crisis Management Advanced Education & Research and Center of Regional Resilience Research, which develop forefront educational programs, train up advanced human resources by utilizing the programs, and conduct cutting-edge researches on disaster mitigation science to meet various needs from various angles.
Institute of Education, Research and Regional Cooperation for Crisis Management Shikoku at Kagawa University will not only turn out talented people and disseminate research and development results, but also strengthen its functions as a center for disaster prevention and mitigation education and research in Kagawa Prefecture which is a base for disaster response in Shikoku.
