The Seto Inland Sea designated as the first national park in Japan is not only beautiful but also the sea of fish rich. And its seafood is very delicious. However, along with past industrialization, environmental destruction advanced in the Seto Inland Sea. Various problems occurred, such as the red tide that occurred in various places afflicting aquaculture fishery.

Therefore, as a result of making laws and making efforts to improve the environment, we have regained a beautiful landscape and water quality.

The Seto Inland Sea Regional Research Center has served as a scientific keeper of the Seto Inland Sea such as keeping observation of the nutritional condition of each place in the sea periodically, from long ago.

Based on these results, we are researching the problems such as condition changes in the sea and decreases in fish catches, by cooperating with national government and prefectural governments, fishery associations and others. In addition, we are researching solutions to problems of requests from local.
