Admission Policy

1.Admission Policy
(1) Philosophy of Education and Research
Rapid progress in science and technology in the twentieth century has brought us comfort and convenience, but has led to problems that threaten the survival of the human race. By establishing the underlying philosophy of the Faculty of Engineering, “the creation of super interdisciplinary engineering through the integration of arts and sciences” as its basis for education and research, the Graduate School of Engineering, Kagawa University, seeks answers as to how engineering should support society in the twenty-first century. We foster talented persons who are flexible and can adapt to their surroundings, can think independently, and can adapt for international development rooted in the region.

(2) Goals of Education and Research
We foster new professional engineers who have a multilateral viewpoint and who fully understand the objects of engineering such as humans, society, nature, and artifacts from a global viewpoint without being tied by the conventional framework of engineering fields.

(3) Content of education and research
The Master’s program offers the following curriculum to embody the philosophy and goals of education and research:
a. Specialized Knowledge and Understanding
We promote this ability in specialized subjects in each major.
b. Advanced Research Skills
b1. Advanced ability to seek solutions in specialized fields
We promote this ability in special research I, II, and Special Topics, based on the real experiences of researchers and engineers invited from external institutions and internships in companies and public institutions.
b2. Practical management ability required of leaders
Students acquire abilities through Engineering Management, Special Topics, Internship, etc.
c. Ethics and Social Responsibility
Students acquire abilities through Engineering management, International/Technical Strategy, Special Topics, Special Internship by researchers and engineers invited from external institutions and research lectures in Special Research I and II.
d. Global Mindset (International Development Ability for Global Activities)
Students discover engineering areas in English and acquire knowledge of international development processes through lectures in English and International Development by teachers with diversified backgrounds.

(4) Desired Qualities
The Graduate School (Master’s Program) welcomes students who possess the following aptitudes:
① Students who are willing to study deeper in their specialized fields with a view to human friendliness and symbiosis with nature.
② Students who actively participate in planning and management as leaders with their own expertise as a background.
③ Students who accept the ethics of society, as well as diversifying values, and who are enthusiastic about building a rich human society by creating new technologies.
④ Students who aspire to contribute to the regional community and the international community through engineering.
